Title: Integration of field and high spatial resolution Quick Bird, SPOT-5 and Li DAR data for mapping plant projective cover Description: The objective of this research was to assess and compare three different field approaches for estimating plant projective cover (PPC) from field data and high spatial resolution SPOT-5 and Quick Bird image data in a sub-tropical wet-dry riparian environment.The PPC maps based on the SPOT-5 and Quick Bird image data were compared to those derived from Light Detection and Ranging (Li DAR) data.
URBAN COASTAL HABITAT MAPPING USING LANDSAT AND QUICKBIRD IMAGERIES.The SPOT-5, Li DAR and Quick Bird image data were captured on 14 June, 15 July and 11 August 2007 respectively for an area along Mimosa Creek in Central Queensland, Australia.Field measurements of PPC were obtained between 28 May and 5 June 2007 using (1) a digital camera with a focal length of 35 mm, (2) a hemispherical camera lens, and (3) point observations of PPC at 0.5 m and 1 m intervals derived with a gimballed crosshair sighting tube. The data are not better than the original sources from which they were derived. The information contained in these data is dynamic and may change over time.The PPC maps were compared to those derived from the Li DAR data using the cover fraction of first returns converted to PPC.The random Forest algorithm was found to be sensitive to the input data.
